Alan McConnachie’s research interests lie in the area of resolved stellar populations of nearby galaxies, galaxy formation and evolution, near field cosmology and the development of astronomical instrumentation. He is a frequent user of the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope, the Gemini Telescopes, the Keck Observatory, the Subaru Observatory and the Hubble Space Telescope. He is heavily involved in the development of new observational capabilities for Canadian astronomers, particularly at CFHT and Gemini.
