3D Models of DAO Site

Introduction

Photogrammetry is the technique of producing a 3D model from a series of images. For these models of the DAO site, a series of still images were extracted from a video shot by a drone over Observatory Hill. The drone pilot was James Dies of the Victoria Camera Club. Use your cursor to manipulate the models.

The first model shows the dome of the 1.8-m Plaskett Telescope, the Centre of the Universe visitor centre and the dome of the 1.2-m telescope.

The second model shows the main office building the Herzberg Astronomy & Astrophysics Research Centre, the integration& testing building, the machine shop and the site services building.
